We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager, Credit to become a member of our team!

Responsibilities:

The Manager, Credit is responsible for the portfolio and risk management for commercial and retail lending for Community Savings Credit Union, including the administration and operations for a Centralized Loans Department.

  • Manage and direct the operation of both Commercial and Centralized Loans Departments.

  • Provide oversight and manage the overall Retail lending practices and portfolio for the Credit Union.

  • The incumbent will be responsible for promoting the growth and development of the Credit Union through marketing and business development activities.

  • Approves commercial and retail loans within approved lending limits.

  • Monitors lending activities of both departments.

  • Assists with the development of lending policies for the Credit Union.

  • Develops and presents annual departmental operating budgets.

  • Liaises with a variety of external contacts including corporate lawyers, Central 1 and other financial institutions.

  • Visits branches regularly to support employees and business development managers

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in our lending programs and environment.

  • Present and advise the Management Credit Committee and Investment & Lending Committee of the Board of Directors, under the direction of the President & CEO on lending and portfolio management activities.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of commercial and retail lending policies, procedures and statutory regulations.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, techniques of business development and marketing credit union services.

  • Knowledge of collection procedures and current business practices.

  • Knowledge of credit risk management and financial management.

  • Experience developing underwriting policies and establishing quality standards.

  • Ability to supervise subordinates engaged in lending support duties and train and develop staff as required.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and to provide advice and assistance on matters related to the lending role.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Energetic and self motivated.

    Minimum Recruiting Qualifications:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.

  • 10+ years experience in a commercial / retail lending role with management responsibilities.

  • Previous managerial experience in a multi branch setting.
