Reporting to the CEO the Chief Risk Officer leads the risk and compliance activities for the credit union.

In addition, you will collaborate with your peers on strategic planning.  The CRO ensures that the organization is in complete compliance with government regulations and guidelines. The CRO is also responsible for risk mitigation, privacy, internal audit, corporate investigations, information security matters and the development of risk analytics.  You will be responsible for leading a team of dedicated risk and compliance professionals.

The Person

The ideal candidate has proven experience in implementing and managing Enterprise Risk Management strategy and risk and compliance activities. You have practical knowledge of consumer and commercial lending and the ability to ensure that all lending and deposit activities comply with sound business practices, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures. In addition, you have the knowledge to leverage risk technology to predict outcomes including potential risk incidents and their impact.  You will provide overall direction, control and planning for the audit/internal controls for the credit union and act as the key management representative to the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee.

You are a strong people leader with proven ability to motivate both direct and indirect teams to perform their best. The ideal person has the ability to work within an environment that is innovative, and be able to utilize a common sense approach with sound judgement to provide clear direction.  You have a strong understanding of the credit union regulatory landscape, requirements and business impacts.  A university degree with focus on business, risk or Finance along with a minimum of 10 years previous related experience is required.  A high level of integrity, superior communication and interpersonal skills round out your experience.
