Stabilization Central Credit Union (SCCU), is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization into the future. Based in Vancouver, the Chief Executive Officer will be highly strategic in providing leadership both to SCCU and more broadly to the strong BC credit union system.

SCCU was established in1989 to be a system-operated stabilization organization that works in conjunction with the B.C. Financial Services Authority through delegated assignments. It also provides services to credit unions who voluntarily seek SCCU’s support. SCCU’s mission is to strengthen BC’s credit unions by monitoring and identifying emerging risks, and ensuring that corrective actions are taken to strengthen individual credit unions and the sector as a whole. SCCU supports credit unions through providing solutions to governance, operations and financial challenges.

Reporting to and working closely with the SCCU Board of Directors, the CEO will provide leadership and oversight to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of this Central Credit Union. This includes leading the effective planning and delivery of stabilization services and other responsibilities delegated to SCCU in support of its member credit unions. Critical to the role will be providing effective oversight of the Master Bond program for BC credit unions.

Collaborating with the Board, the CEO will set the organization’s strategic direction and be accountable for translating SCCU’s vision and strategic plans into realizable deliverables via policies, directives and operating procedures. Ensuring and growing the financial strength, credibility and viability of SCCU will be essential as will growing SCCU’s reputation among members. The CEO will establish and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders including the Board, employees, SCCU members, advisory bodies, regulatory authorities and other external parties, and will build and
sustain their commitment to SCCU’s strategic direction.

You will bring a relevant university degree and a minimum of 10 years senior leadership experience in the financial services sector combined with an understanding of the BC credit union system and its regulatory environment.

Exemplary interpersonal skills, communication skills and the ability to work with a board range of audiences will be crucial, as will the ability to engage, inspire and lead by example.
