Reporting to the Manager SASCU Wealth, you will work with credit union members to proactively uncover their unique needs and recommend and implement financial strategies to help mitigate risks to their financial goals.  You will have a proven history of sales results through building trust-based relationships with members and branch staff.

Your key responsibilities will be to:  

  • Maintain an active pipeline of new business opportunities by proactively consulting with referral sources and members on personal and business risk management needs
  • Identify member needs and goals, analyze data on income, assets, liabilities and wealth transfer objectives and present appropriate solutions/strategies to meet those needs using financial planning tools
  • Recommend a wide array of insurance products (e.g., term, permanent, critical illness, disability, long-term care, annuities) and strategies for both the personal and business marketplaces
  • Build professional networks within the local community to refer to and source members. Identify legal, trust, estate or other specialists as needs are uncovered to support the advice services offered by SASCU
  • Act as the designated insurance nominee for SASCU Wealth
  • Liaise with SASCU’s Commercial team to develop referral opportunities and provide risk management solutions to small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) members including individual and group solutions
  • Process applications; conduct follow-up discussions with insurance vendors and/or contractors and/or medical professionals, as required, to assist with the processing of applications; set up and maintain accurate member files

You possess the following skills and experience:

  • Life License Qualification Program (LLQP)
  • At least 4 to 6 years’ directly related experience
  • Expert knowledge of personal and commercial insurance products and concepts
  • Solid understanding of financial planning products and services
  • Strong working knowledge of taxation for individuals and businesses
  • CFP, CLU, or other planning designations an asset
