Director, Financial Planning and Analysis

As the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis you play a key leadership role in helping the organization “plan forwards” through budgeting, forecasting and management reporting. Your passion for analysis and interpretation of business results will facilitate better data-driven decision making throughout the organization. You will also provide guidance and mentoring to direct reports and build and maintain critical relationships with staff, colleagues and other key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Oversees the financial and business performance for BlueShore Financial and subsidiaries and supports BlueShore’s leadership team by providing recommendations for improved financial performance
  • In conjunction with the VP Finance, leads and develops  the annual strategic plan along with the annual budget process; leads the forecast process and provides recommendations
  • Leads the design of the financial process environment and key financial internal controls;  responsible for the strategic financial technology roadmap including financial processing and reporting technologies
  • Prepares monthly financial analytics and shares with stakeholders
  • Assesses the impact of proposed legislative and accounting standards changes to BlueShore’s financial reporting
  • Represents finance as the primary contact for strategic projects and acts as a subject matter expert in the areas of financial system integration, financial system implementation, and internal control design and project management.
  • Develops strong working relationships with all business units and department leaders while assisting them in achieving the organizational strategic and financial priorities
  • Manages performance and proactively coaches direct reports to facilitate their career success and growth.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with external and internal clients/supplies, FICOM, external auditors and internal auditors.
  • Challenges the norm choosing to look at what is right for BlueShore Financial at the time as opposed to what has been right in the past.
  • Provides backup to VP Finance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • CPA, CGA, CA, CMA or CFA
  • 7 years  experience in a Finance role
  • Solid knowledge of project management
  • Proven experience leading teams and developing team members
  • Experience with a financial institution an asset
  • Knowledge of banking systems, ERP systems/software, and business intelligence systems an asset
  • Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Expert Excel skills and solid knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.)
