We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a Finance Manager. This position acts as a key advisor reporting directly to the CEO and is an active member of the management team. 

This is a “hands on” role in a small, yet dynamic and high growth organization. There will be opportunities to roll up your sleeves and get involved in both the tactical and strategic areas of the credit union. 

Major Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the overall corporate financial planning and performance activities of the credit union.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements. 
  • Manage and monitor credit union accounts payable and general ledger accounts.
  • Compile accounting and statistical financial data, analyze and interpret results, and document current and projected financial performance.
  • Lead the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets. 
  • Key involvement in the regulatory process and requirements for the Credit Union.
  • Lead the preparation of reports identifying areas of financial opportunity and concern regarding the credit union.
  • Conduct financial forecasts for the credit union.
  • Responsible for external investments and borrowings.
  • Set and administer the rate structure in conjunction with the CEO.
  • Monitor the matching of assets and liabilities.
  • Develop and recommend internal financial controls and procedures to minimize risk exposure.
  • Oversee and ensure the credit union’s ERM program is being managed appropriately.
  • Participate actively at the management and Board level in the development and implementation of long term strategic plan.
  • Act as the Credit Union Compliance officer for Proceeds of Crime/Terrorist Activity requirements (AML). 

Essential Requirements

  •  An accounting designation (or a combination of a business degree/diploma in accounting/finance and work experience equivalent to a designation).
  • 3 - 5 years experience, preferably in a financial institution and/or Credit Union, directing overall financial planning and performance activities. 
  • Excellent analytical and forecasting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with non-direct reports, Credit Union leadership, and Board members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong financial information systems/IT knowledge (incl. advanced knowledge of Excel).
