The Opportunity: Controller

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Finance, the Controller provides leadership and oversight of SASCU’s financial processes and controls, including reporting, budgeting, treasury, procurement and payroll. 

The Controller has management accountability for the financial condition of the organization and ensures that the Vice President, Finance and other credit union employees have access to timely, meaningful, and accurate financial information. S/he plays the lead role developing and overseeing the implementation of operational policies for payroll, budget, controls, and financial risk management. The Controller will be responsible for consolidating and providing analysis of the financial reports for all branches of the credit union, providing cash flow projections, as well as the investment of funds in both the short and long-term.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:  
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation; 
  • Minimum of four to six years’ progressive experience within a senior financial or supervisory role; 
  • Well developed and demonstrated knowledge of business and management principles, financial planning and analysis; 
  • Knowledgeable of treasury practice, FTP reporting, and member profitability systems; 
  • Experience overseeing payroll, payables, and accounts receivable; 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) accounting software; 
  • Good organizational and project management skills; 
  • Sound decision making ability to choose appropriate solutions.
